Sometimes, you just don’t need to overcomplicate things. I saw a recipe not long ago for broiled grapefruit, and I thought that might make a nice addition to breakfast in the mountains this past weekend. I used a grill instead of the broiler and regular white sugar instead of brown, and it turned out great. The grapefruits I got happened to be spectacular, and when you have good ingredients, you just don’t need to do too much to them. So, here’s my recipe:
- Cut grapefruits in half; bring grill to high heat
- Sprinkle the cut sides of the grapefruit with sugar and a little salt
- Grill grapefruit, cut sides down
- Flip grapefruit after 5 minutes or so, sprinkle cut sides with more sugar
- Remove from grill when grapefruit are heated through
I don’t have a grill at the moment, I’m wondering if you can broil them in the oven…looks delicious! I’ve always loved grapefruit. I’ll have to try this once grapefruits are in season here. Thanks for sharing.
Absolutely you can broil them! I’d probably use brown sugar next time, too.
